February 2019 Fairyloot – Unboxing

february 2019 fairloot

Hi everyone! February has come and gone, as has the first week of March. And that can only mean one thing… It’s time to unbox the February 2019 Fairyloot box! This time, the theme was Beast and Beauty, and instead of items inspired by a range of fandoms, we got an entire box filled with items about Beauty and the Beast! This was my favourite Disney movie when I was a kid, so you can imagine how excited I was when the delivery guy showed up!

So, let’s get started, shall we?

As usual, there’s a spoiler card included, with the theme’s artwork on the back (as you can see in the big picture at the top). As always, this artwork is done by Taratjah. And what a gorgeous piece this is once again. Did you notice the beast hiding in the shadows on the left?!

Tapestry and tumbler

I often wonder how the Fairyloot team manages to fit so many items in one box. And this month, it must have been an even bigger challenge than usual, because the first item is huuuuuge! Seriously, I don’t know how this all fit, because when I took everything out and then tried to puzzle it all back together, the box barely closed.

Anyway! Back to the first item. It’s a wall tapestry depicting the stunning dancing scene between Belle and the Beast! It was designed by Sweet Sequels and I absolutely love it! Now I only have to find a place to put it. Preferably somewhere my cats can’t reach it, or they might put their claws in it. So that will require some thinking, but I can’t *NOT* put it up either.

The next item is a tumbler designed by Taratjah and KDP Letters. On one side, it features a drawing of the enchanted rose, on the other side it reads “Tale as Old as Time” (let’s face it, one of the best Disney songs of all time). And that’s not all! Just look at the sparkly flecks! They’re between the outer and inner side, so they move around when you shake the tumbler. I want to make a smoothie or milkshake right now just so I can use this, it’s beautiful!

Trinket tray and perfume

Next up, we have a ceramic trinket dish designed by Drop And Give Me Nerdy. It features Pendule’s quote “If it’s not baroque, don’t fix it”, which is perfect for this little tray. The description on the spoiler card says it’s meant to hold jewellery on your bedside table. But you know, cats, so I’ll have to find some other use for it in a place they can’t reach.

The next item made me so happy when I saw it! It’s a roll-on perfume called Tea with Mrs. Potts, made by Little Heart Gifts. Its scent is vanilla and tea, and it smells a-ma-zing! I love the scent of vanilla, so I’ll probably use this a lot. Which is bad news for my boyfriend, because he doesn’t like vanilla (I know, I don’t understand him either).

Pin and print

We already had the tumbler featuring the enchanted rose, and so does the next item. It’s an enamel pin, created by IceyDesigns. As you know, I’m not a big fan of pins, but this one is gorgeous. Remember that pin flag we got a few months ago? I still need to find a place to put it, but this pin will get the best spot on it.

And finally, the last Beauty and the Beast inspired item is a print by Amaretta. I don’t have words for this, it’s stunning. Look at those details, like Belle’s freckles! This definitely deserves a proper display, so everyone can see it.

Trading cards and other merch

As you might remember, Fairyloot started putting tarot-style trading cards in their boxes two months ago. The first book series that got featured, was A Court of Thorns and Roses. We already got 4 members of the Inner Circle, and now Rhysand and Morrigan complete the set. These gorgeous cards are all designed by Emily Haynes, who’s done an amazing job!

Before I reveal the book, there’s also the bookmark with this month’s artwork, the Fairyscoop newsletter, and a bookmark for S.A. Chakraborty’s fantasy series The Daevabad Trilogy!

The book of the month

And now it’s time to reveal the featured book of the February 2019 Fairyloot box! It’s A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer! As you might have figured out, it’s a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, with a modern twist. Harper lives in Washington, DC, where she has to take care of her mother while her brother is involved with loan sharks. One day, she is kidnapped and taken to the kingdom of Emberfall, where prince Rhen and his guard Grey suffer from a curse. I’m currently reading this and it’s so good! I love hate-to-love, so this is right up my alley.

This edition of the book is a Fairyloot exclusive in hardback, with a silky ribbon bookmark, and just look at the foiling! Furthermore, there’s a rose-shaped signed bookplate, a letter from the author with character art on the back, and a bookmark with a QR code that leads to an exclusive competition.

That was all, and what a box the February 2019 Fairyloot was! I am completely in awe, especially about the tapestry, the tumbler and the perfume. What was your favourite item? Let me know in the comments!
