New year, new me! Which is what I say every year, but still… But it’s never too late to actually change, right? So I started the year with some resolutions to work on self-improvement and that’s what this blog post is about. 2023, here I come!
After almost two years of being a full-time mom, I feel the need to do more stuff for myself again. I’m writing them down here, because I hope putting it in writing gives me extra motivation to actually get things done.
First of all, I’d like to read at least 10 books this year (remember the time when I read 45 books per year? *sobs*). Preferably, I’d read 1 book every month, but since life has a tendency to get in the way, I’m giving myself some leeway here. And the top 3 on my TBR list are all big tomes, so I’ll probably need more time than expected for those. Is 2023 the year I finally get out of this massive reading slump? I definitely hope so!
Another resolution is to start eating healthier. Not that my food choices are very unhealthy at the moment, but I want to lower my intake of refined sugar. Fewer cookies, more fruit!
Related, I’d also like to start (and maintain, lol) a workout routine. Because of health issues, I have to check with a doctor what kind of workout I’m allowed to do though. But hopefully I can start doing some at-home exercises soon to get more fit and lose a few pounds.
But wait! There’s more!
Furthermore, in 2023 I want to work on making sure my appearance matches my personality, if that makes sense. Currently, I look like some sort of grey mouse that’s utterly forgettable – and I don’t think I actually *am* that boring?. The reason for that is I’ve always been too scared to stand out, because of what people might think of me. But why should I only do/wear things other people approve of? That doesn’t make me a happier person. So bring on a new wardrobe, some geeky/edgy jewelry (can you even combine those two styles? lol), and maaaaybe even a tattoo like I’ve always wanted.
And as if this list isn’t long enough, I’d also like to get better at crocheting – and make at least one piece of clothing for myself this year -, and pick up guitar playing again and learn some proper technique to master guitar solos.
Last but not least, I’m hoping to get back into blogging this year. I miss writing for you all, I really do. And instead of scrolling through social media, I might as well open up my laptop and write a blog post.
That makes 7 goals I have for this year. So keep an eye on this space for updates! And in the meantime, let me know if you made resolutions for 2023!
Good luck with your goals. I think they’re great ones.
